Arkivens dag: Fredsarkivet
Arkivens dag: Fredsarkivet, Dag Hammarskjöld and the Congo Crisis. Hear about the ongoing work to collect personal accounts from the UN operation in the Congo, and about Dag Hammarskjöld – his dramatic death and the continuing search for answers.
Fredsarkivet has been based at Armémuseum since the start of the year, and a project to collect and preserve memories of the UN operation in the Congo is taking place in 2026. On Arkivens dag, curators at Fredarkivet, Peter Zander and Bo Bjerkerot, will talk about this work and why these personal accounts are important for future understanding.
Also attending is the author and former diplomat Staffan Carlsson, whose award-winning book “Helgon och maktspelare” is currently in the spotlight. Carlsson will talk about UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld, his dramatic death and the continuing search for answers. Drawing on Hammarskjöld’s story, Carlsson will also show how important archives are for understanding the past and discovering new perspectives.
Free admission! A reserved-seat ticket is required.
