Noh-teater föredrag, demonstration & teceremoni
Noh theatre: Talk and demonstration Noh theatre is a Japanese theatrical style that has been performed since the 14th century and was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008.
Noh is a highly stylised and refined performing art that combines singing, dancing, musical accompaniment, and the use of masks and elegant costumes. It is a theatrical form that requires highly trained actors and musicians and has been passed down from generation to generation.
This evening’s talk and demonstration will provide an understanding of the origins and history of this theatrical form. Helga Janse, Japan curator at the National Museums of World Culture, will introduce the museum’s collection of Noh masks, and we will see how masks, fans and costumes are used in Noh. There will also be a demonstration of Noh dance, with an opportunity to ask questions.
The performers are from Kyoto and are led by Michiharu Wakebayashi.
The speakers are Michiharu Wakebayashi, Koji Hashimoto and Hiromichi Tamoi.

Tea ceremony: Talk and demonstration
The Japanese tea ceremony (Chanoyu) is about much more than enjoying tea and sweets; it is an art form experienced through all five senses, expressed through seasonal nuances and hospitality in every choice of utensils and tea room.
The Japanese tea ceremony began to take shape during the 12th and 13th centuries and reached a peak of development in the 14th century, at the same time as Noh theatre.
In this workshop, Kyoto-based tea master Sōchi Wakebayashi will lead an introduction in which participants can enjoy authentic Japanese matcha alongside carefully selected seasonal sweets.
Supported by: Scandinavia-Japan Sasakawa Foundation and Chado Urasenke Tankokai Sweden Association.
