Specialvisning – Yokai i anime & manga Friends, monsters and love interests — yokai appear in all kinds of roles in anime and manga. This special tour takes a deep dive into how the creatures featured in the exhibition live on in modern comics and films.
Anime and manga have also introduced people all over the world to different aspects of Japan’s world of spirits, from terrifying female ghosts to lovable friends.
During the tour, you’ll get to know creations by iconic creators such as Eiichiro Oda (One Piece), Rumiko Takahashi (Inu-Yasha) and Studio Ghibli, as well as discover exciting hidden gems whose creators each interpret yokai in their own way.
Gabriella Gomez is an anime and manga expert. She has worked with Japanese popular culture for 25 years as a volunteer organiser, marketer and literary scholar, and lectures on female manga creators and different expressions of fan culture. She has contributed her manga expertise, purchasing advice and written content to the exhibition.
