David Myhr

David Myhr (ex-The Merrymakers) – with his third solo album on the way – plays an exclusive show at Debaser Nova on 30 September!

In the 1990s, David Myhr was the frontman of The Merrymakers, who enjoyed international success, particularly in Japan, where they sold 100,000 records. Today, The Merrymakers are a cult band in the power pop world, not least thanks to their collaboration with Jellyfish frontman Andy Sturmer, who served as producer, drummer and co-writer on their second album, Bubblegun (1997). In the 2000s, David wrote songs for Japanese artists. As a solo artist, he has released the albums Soundshine (2012) and the Nashville-recorded Lucky Day (2018), a couple of EPs and various singles, including the ELO-flavoured film song "Spellbound".

This year, David has his third solo album on the way, expected after the summer. For this album, he has worked with a number of American and British songwriters and musicians, including Brad Jones, Bill DeMain, Linus of Hollywood and Frankie Siragusa. He has also worked with vocalist Iain Hornal, lead singer in 10cc and backing vocalist with Jeff Lynne’s ELO.

The search for the perfect pop melody continues. With the collection of songs on his new album, David Myhr comes closer than ever before.
