"Homages" is a concert in which music from different eras and forms of expression meets in a lively conversation. Bach, Debussy, Mehldau and Andrea Tarrodi reflect, comment on and listen to one another through the piano’s rich sound worlds.

A central feature of the programme is the world premiere of Tarrodi’s newly written piano piece. Her music is interwoven with visual art through projections by filmmaker David Tarrodi in a unique collaboration, in which sound and moving images create an evocative, atmospheric whole.

Pianist David Huang won Sweden’s most prestigious music competition - Solistpriset in 2014 and has since performed with the country’s leading orchestras, including Kungliga Filharmonikerna and Göteborgs Symfoniker. His interpretation of Bach’s Goldberg-variationer at a sold-out Berwaldhallen in 2018 was acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. Alongside his solo career, Huang is the lead piano teacher at Södra Latins gymnasium and a panellist on ”Klassiska klubben” on SVT. Andrea Tarrodi is one of Sweden’s most highly regarded contemporary composers. Her works are regularly performed in Sweden and around the world, including at Royal Albert Hall during BBC Proms 2017, Berliner Philharmonie, Wiener Musikverein and Barbican Centre in London. In 2018, Tarrodi’s CD “String Quartets”, performed by Dahlkvistkvartetten, received a Grammis for best classical album of the year. Tarrodi’s music has also been presented several times at Östersjöfestivalen. David Tarrodi is a film director and photographer. His documentaries and portrait films often have close ties to music, such as the documentary series ”Människan och musiken” (Konserthuset) and ”Filmen om Esbjörn Svensson” (SVT). Tarrodi also creates synchronised video works for live performances, including for Olivier Messiaen’s Poèmes pour Mi at Berwaldhallen.
