Litterär tesalong – Den gula tapeten
Litterär tesalong – Den gula tapeten “The pattern in front is moving – and no wonder! The woman behind it is shaking it!
Sometimes I think there are lots of women behind it and sometimes just one, and she crawls quickly, and her crawling makes the whole thing shake.” Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s short story Den gula tapeten from 1892 is a Gothic horror story that was among the first to explore themes such as women’s confinement in marriage, in maternal bodies, and in the images of women portrayed in literature by men.
Dr Anna Cavallin leads the discussion. Price: SEK 475, including refreshments and a copy of the short story, to be collected from the museum shop on presentation of your ticket.
