Vad gör ett samhälle värt att försvara?
What makes people help their neighbours, follow shared rules and take responsibility for something greater than themselves? How important is trust to a society’s resilience? Where does people’s sense of duty come from?
And what happens to a society when trust between people begins to falter?
During Beredskapsveckan, Armémuseum invites you to a discussion about duty, preparedness and the willingness to defend society. Two researchers come together to discuss what makes people cooperate, commit to the common good and stand up for society when it is put to the test.
Economist Erik Mohlin researches cooperation, norms and why people choose to contribute to public goods. Conflict researcher Ralph Sundberg studies what people actually say they are fighting for in armed conflicts. Together, they offer new perspectives on the values, relationships and institutions that strengthen our collective resilience.
The evening begins with a so-called unboxing in which curator Andreas Ohlsson from Armémuseum presents objects from Armémuseum’s collections that shed light on the evening’s topic. This is followed by a panel discussion. The entire evening is moderated by Emilia Engblad from Armémuseum.
Programme:

The discussion is rounded off with questions from the audience, bringing the evening to a close.
Brännpunkt is Armémuseum’s forum for in-depth discussions of pressing issues. In this discussion series, objects from our collections provide historical springboards for thinking more openly and clearly about the future.
The musical framework for Brännpunkt was composed by Adele Marcia Kosman. The panel discussion has been curated in collaboration with Institutet för framtidsstudier.
