Debaser Nova, Stockholm
Goodnight, Texas
Goodnight, Texas are a hard-to-define folk-rock band with storytelling at their heart, whose strength lies in unexpected meeting points.
The band take their name from the real small town of Goodnight in Texas – the geographical midpoint between Pat and Avi's then homes in San Francisco, California and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The five-piece band also sit midway between their songwriters' contrasting styles: via a 1913 Gibson A mandolin and a 2015 Danelectro Baritone guitar, at the intersection of folk, blues and rock'n'roll.
A Google search will turn up recent features in NME, Rolling Stone, No Depression and Consequence of Sound, as well as appearances at festivals such as Austin City Limits, SXSW, Red Wing Roots and Beachlife Ranch. Goodnight, Texas have toured with artists such as The Dead South, Larkin Poe, Shakey Graves and John Craigie. In 2020, their song The Railroad was also used as the opening music for the first episode of Tiger King. Perhaps that was where you first heard them.
On their latest album Signals, the band take their sound to even greater heights, and on 5 December they come to Stockholm for a gig at Debaser Nova.
