Hallwylska Museet

In the late 19th century, Wilhelmina and Walther von Hallwyl had a magnificent palace built at Hamngatan 4 in Stockholm. An entire block was demolished to make room for what would become the successful couple’s winter residence. After the couple’s deaths, the palace passed to the Swedish state, and soon the doors opened to Hallwylska Museet – and a world like no other. Today, you can visit the grand drawing room, which has seen more than a few waltzes, the smoking room where Walther conducted his business, the serving room where the servants worked diligently, and the picture gallery with one masterpiece after another.
