Heroes are figures in Greek mythology who existed in the borderland between mortal humans and immortal gods. Their lot was to protect humanity from all the evils of the world, often in the form of fearsome monsters, and their deeds were celebrated in song and drama.

The greatest of the heroes performed deeds of such greatness that he was rewarded with divinity. His name was Herakles.
