En kväll om Augusta Lundin
This lecture introduces you to dressmaker and fashion star Augusta Lundin, who established one of Sweden’s most influential dressmaking ateliers, featuring fashions from Paris.
Around the turn of the 20th century, the large atelier at Brunkebergstorg 2 in Stockholm is a hive of activity. Skirts are sewn, beads are embroidered onto bodices and flounces are gathered. There are exclusive silk fabrics from France and lace from Italy and Belgium. Women from across the Stockholm area flock to the shop on the building’s lower floor to admire and marvel at the latest fashions from Europe. Augusta Lundin is the woman behind it all, and her name is on the lips of every fashion-conscious woman.
Anna Bergman Jurell, curator and artist, and Lotta Lewenhaupt, fashion journalist and author, tell the story of the entrepreneur who shaped Swedish fashion history.
Join us for an evening about courage, fashion and female entrepreneurship!
The lecture is part of the programme series Kvinnorna i sekelskiftets Sverige.
Tip! Make the evening extra special with a warming vegetarian soup and a glass of wine at the museum’s restaurant, Rosengården. The special price for the evening is 160 kronor. An alcohol-free option costs 120 kronor.
